Who We Are

Rwenzori Women and Orphans Empowerment Initiative (RWOEI) is a noteworthy Community Based Organization (CBO) that was established in 2017 with a primary focus on fostering positive change and development within the Rwenzori communities of Kasese District, Uganda. Registered under the number CBO/042, RWOEI operates with the mission of enhancing the holistic livelihood of women, particularly widows, and orphans. The organization is rooted in a vision to cultivate a society where women have a voice, freedom of expression, and the ability to sustain themselves.

Mission

Our Mission

To improve the wholly livelihood of the both women, with emphasis on the widows and the orphans in terms of moral, physical and economic development through proper flow of information , income generating activities improving maternal health, modern methods of farming , elimination of gender based violence and skills development

Our Objectives

  • To enable women acknowledge their rights in both families and the communities at large.
  • To establish linkages in both local and international agencies interested in the promotion of activities that economically empower the marginalized groups especially widows and orphans as a way of emancipating them.
  • Economic empowerment and capacity building of youth and their communities.
  • To enhance the knowledge and capacity of women and orphans to address development issues through skills, performance devolvement experience and sharing of ideas.
  • To train and improve the savings culture among widows and orphans.
  • To advocate for preventive measures against the spread of HIV/AIDS among the youth and the community at large.
  • To improve the livelihood of widows, orphans and the community at large through engaging them in entrepreneurship skills.

Focus Areas

The initiative has structured its activities around several key thematic areas to comprehensively address the multifaceted challenges faced by the community. These areas include Education, Health, Economic Empowerment (with a specific emphasis on widows and orphans), Campaign against Drug Abuse and Rehabilitation of Drug Addicts, and Modern Farming Technologies Practices.

Core Values

Volunteerism, teamwork, accountability, and result-oriented approaches form the core values that guide RWOEI`s actions and interactions. These values reflect a commitment to collaborative and effective efforts in achieving the organization`s goals.

Our Target

The initiative identifies widows and orphans as its primary target groups. For widows, RWOEI envisions creating opportunities through vocational training, aiming at long-term sustainability. In the case of orphans, the organization seeks to prevent their involvement in anti-social behaviors, create self-employment opportunities, engage them in productive activities, and involve them in welfare activities and the implementation of government policies. In essence, the Rwenzori Women and Orphans Empowerment Initiative stands as a beacon of hope and change in the Rwenzori landscape of Kasese District. Its commitment to empowering women, especially widows and orphans, is evident through its multifaceted approach, encompassing education, health, economic empowerment, agriculture, and more. By addressing the diverse needs of the community, RWOEI is making significant strides toward building a more resilient and empowered society in Uganda.
